Baseball Game Preview: Massabesic Mustangs vs. Bonny Eagle Scots

The Massabesic Mustangs will face off against the Bonny Eagle Scots at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Massabesic's offense. They came up short against Thornton Academy on Saturday, falling 11-0. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Bonny Eagle earned a 4-1 victory over Marshwood on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Scots.

Gavin Saucier was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dakota Winkler, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Massabesic's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Bonny Eagle, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Massabesic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bonny Eagle struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Massabesic was able to grind out a solid victory over Bonny Eagle in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, winning 6-1. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Scots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
