Basketball Game Preview: Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles vs. Brookland-Cayce Bearcats

The Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles will square off against the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Gray Collegiate Academy is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Butler just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 58-43 bruising from the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brookland-Cayce). Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 71-30 stomp they got against Georgetown. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.

Brookland-Cayce found their leader in freshman Dalacia Rouse, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 14 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rouse has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Etheredge, who posted 22 points.

Brookland-Cayce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Brookland-Cayce is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
