Basketball Recap: Altoona Comes Up Short

Altoona lost against Central Dauphin back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Altoona Mountain Lions had to suffer through a 72-34 loss at the hands of the Central Dauphin Rams. The Mountain Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.

Wayne Fletcher II continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Central Dauphin, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 16 boards. The matchup was Fletcher II's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Shakur Starling was another key player, going 8 for 14 on his way to 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Altoona and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Central Dauphin, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Altoona will face off against Harrisburg at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Dauphin, they will take on State College at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Central Dauphin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.1 points per game this season.
