Basketball Recap: Eagle Pass Takes a Loss

If Eagle Pass was riding high fresh off their 50-27 takedown of Martin last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carrizo Springs Wildcats on Tuesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Carrizo Springs was led to victory by Jennay Davila and Melanie Davila. Jennay went 5-for-11 en route to 13 points along with six boards and five steals, while Melanie shot 42% from the field to rack up 12 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Melanie is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jai'Leah Arambula, who posted five points and six steals.

Eagle Pass now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Carrizo Springs, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Eagle Pass will square off against Cole at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carrizo Springs, they will challenge Cuero at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
