Basketball Recap: Midway Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rosewood on Monday, Midway came back down to earth. The Raiders were dealt a 44-12 loss at the hands of the Goldsboro Cougars on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Cougars are ranked 75th).

Goldsboro's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aziyah Boyer, who posted 12 points. Alissa Brown was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Midway's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Goldsboro, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 22-2.

Looking ahead, Midway is taking a road trip to face off against Hertford County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Goldsboro, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-41 victory against James Kenan on the 20th.
