Soccer Game Preview: Shorewood vs. Monroe

The Shorewood Stormrays will head out on the road to face off against the Monroe Bearcats at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Shorewood sitting on six straight victories and Monroe on 11.

Shorewood's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Edmonds-Woodway by a score of 2-0. Morgan Grutz had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Shorewood.

Meanwhile, Monroe won against Lynnwood on Saturday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Tuesday. The Bearcats were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Marysville Getchell. The result was nothing new for Monroe, who have now won ten contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Monroe pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those six games. As for Shorewood, their win bumped their record up to 15-2-1.

Shorewood came out on top in a nail-biter against Monroe when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stormrays since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
