Softball Recap: Mountain View Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Mountain View dropped their record down to 18-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Canyon del Oro Dorados. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dorados this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 on Tuesday.

Mountain View saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Blasko, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Canyon del Oro, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 24-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games.

On Canyon del Oro's side, the team relied heavily on Sammy Hudgens, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Hendrix, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Mountain View and Canyon del Oro should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. The Mountain Lions will take on Catalina Foothills at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (25 vs. 192). Meanwhile, Canyon del Oro (ranked fifth) will meet Sahuaro (ranked 209th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in the Dorados' favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while the Cougars have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
