Volleyball Recap: Niwot Cougars vs. Mountain Vista Golden Eagles

Niwot faced Mountain Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Niwot fell just short of Mountain Vista by a score of 2-1. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Golden Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Niwot started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-12, 15-10.

Cooper Chudleigh paced Niwot's offense, picking up ten kills. Chudleigh got some help from Jasper Helgans and his 26 assists.

Mountain Vista found their leader in sophomore Atreyu (Trey) Armstrong, who had 12 digs and one assist.

Niwot's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Mountain Vista, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Niwot will square off against Centaurus at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centaurus will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Niwot surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mountain Vista, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Littleton Public Schools on the 29th.
