Basketball Recap: South Sumter Takes a Loss

South Sumter lost against Belleview back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The South Sumter Raiders were outmatched by the Belleview Rattlers and fell 58-19. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 549th, while the Rattlers are ranked 268th).

Belleview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Briyanna Miles led the charge by going 8 of 19 en route to 21 points and six steals. Miles has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cami Satterfield, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

South Sumter has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Belleview, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

South Sumter won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Vanguard at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Vanguard has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Belleview, they will take on Lecanto on Tuesday.
