League recap: Sacred Heart Prep stuns Aragon in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sacred Heart Prep, who took down 297th ranked Aragon, 25-0. Kevin Donahoe threw for 215 yards and one touchdown and ran for 22 yards in the win.

Terra Nova's Tanner Piccolotti recorded the longest rushing play in Peninsula - Bay this season in his game against Burlingame last week. Piccolotti scampered for 75 yards on the play and finished with 230 on the day as his team topped the Panthers.

Terra Nova's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. K'ren Spain threw for 225 and two touchdowns and Dominic Ortisi had 105 yards receiving. Nick Pierotti helped Terra Nova's passing attack out by catching five balls for 53 yards.

Daniel Thaure made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Gators topped the Dons. The 5-foot-10 senior forced one fumble.

Thanks to the talents of Spain and Piccolotti Bill Gray's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Spain leads the league in passing with 1333 yards, while Piccolotti has rushed for 827 yards this season. Menlo-Atherton's Evan Perkins leads the league in receiving yards with 476 on 22 catches.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Sacred Heart Prep takes on second place Menlo-Atherton. Last week, Sacred Heart Prep beat Aragon, while the Bears bested Half Moon Bay.

Peter Lavorato's team moved up to 313 from 345 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Gators were able to make move up by topping Steve Sell's team 25-0.
