Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Armwood). They were the clear victor by an 81-60 margin over the King Lions on Friday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Lions are ranked 685th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Armwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Dryden led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Dryden a new career-high. Preston Achille was another key player, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.

Armwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

King lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Rodney Smith, who went 6 of 15 en route to 19 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Nuri Hakim, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds.

Armwood's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for King, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Armwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-34 victory against Freedom on the 14th. As for King, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-46 defeat against Tampa Bay Tech on the 14th.
