Baseball Recap: Pryor Has No Trouble Against Hickman

Pryor was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hickman on Saturday. Pryor was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Hickman. The Tigers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th.

Chase Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Treyce Crawford, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Clinton Stohler was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Pryor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Pryor is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Hickman's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.

The future could be bright for both Pryor and Hickman: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Pryor will look to extend Will Rogers College's six-game losing streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Hickman will try to hand Capital City their third-straight loss when the two meet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
