Volleyball Preview: Maclay Marauders vs. P.K. Yonge Blue Wave
The Maclay Marauders will take on the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maclay is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Maclay is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Blountstown just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. While the Marauders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-14 in the first set.
Maclay actually scored more points across those five sets (101-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-23, 15-9.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Maggie Bragg, who had 14 digs.
Even though they lost, Maclay was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, P.K. Yonge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lincoln.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-10.
Maclay's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for P.K. Yonge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.
