Basketball Recap: Jackson Barnes Key Part of a Team Effort in Cougars Win

Cottage got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They secured a 45-41 W over the Cumberland Academy of Georgia Cyclones on Wednesday. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cottage got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jackson Barnes out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. That's the most points Barnes has posted since back in January. Gavin Akers was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Cottage's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Cumberland Academy of Georgia, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Cottage will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Cumberland Academy of Georgia will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Cottage at 4:15 p.m. on January 17, 2025.
