Baseball Recap: Paloma Valley Victorious

Paloma Valley proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Poly Bears 6-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Clinton Glass spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Paloma Valley is 7-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Wyatt Smith was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. Paloma Valley is 5-2 when Smith posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Christian Stephens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Paloma Valley's record is now 12-10. As for Poly, they moved to 13-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Paloma Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Moreno Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Poly will square off against rival Arlington at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Bears are on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), the Lions a five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
