Baseball Recap: Sayre Comes Up Short

Sayre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wyalusing Valley Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sabres of the 5-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Sayre saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Pellicano Jr., who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That double was Pellicano Jr.'s first of the season.

Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Wyalusing Valley, they moved to 4-13 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sayre will challenge Sullivan County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wyalusing Valley, they will face off against Wellsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
