Basketball Recap: Sterling Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

Sterling came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Rock Island Rocks with points to spare, taking the game 60-42. Given the Golden Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Rocks are ranked 169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sterling's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 26-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points over those games. As for Rock Island, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-15.
