Volleyball Recap: Port Clinton Redskins vs. Vermilion Sailors
Port Clinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They came up short against the Vermilion Sailors, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sailors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
While Port Clinton was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-17, 25-19.
Alexa Pastor paced Port Clinton's offense, picking up five kills. Pastor got some help from Evalee Cross and her nine assists. Tatum Higgins controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vermilion to victory, but perhaps none more so than Delaney Russell, who had 14 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Russell has posted over her last seven contests. Sofia Schaffer also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Port Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Vermilion, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-12.
Port Clinton has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Edison on the 9th. As for Vermilion, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Huron on the 9th.
