Softball Game Preview: Torrington Raiders vs. Killingly Trailblazers

The Torrington Raiders will face off against the Killingly Trailblazers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Torrington's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Killingly has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Last Saturday, Torrington wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Sophia Pergola was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles.

In other batting news, Gracie Spring made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Killingly and East Lyme, and East Lyme kept the tradition alive. The Trailblazers came up short against the Vikings on Tuesday, falling 11-2.

Killingly saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Durand, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Torrington's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Killingly, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
