Basketball Recap: Clearfield Falls Short of Grove City in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Clearfield can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 71-70 to the Grove City Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (68), the Bison still had to take the loss.

Clearfield lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Braison Patrick, who shot 67% from the field en route to 28 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 43% in the last five games he's played. Elijah Glunt was another key player, going 6-for-14 on his way to 17 points and eight assists.

The defeat snapped Clearfield's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-10 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points over those games. As for Grove City, their win bumped their record up to 19-8.

Clearfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Grove City, they will face off against Cathedral Prep on Tuesday. Cathedral Prep will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Grove City surely won't give up without a fight.
