Basketball Recap: Carlinville Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Carlinville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They secured a 45-40 W over the Hillsboro Hiltoppers on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-48 last Thursday.

Several Hiltoppers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ella Greenwood, who posted nine points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Amya Greenwood, who put up 11 points.

Carlinville's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Hillsboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-11.

Coming up, Carlinville will take on Pleasant Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant Plains will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Carlinville surely won't give up without a fight. Hillsboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
