Basketball Game Preview: Taylorsville Warriors vs. Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle

Taylorsville is 0-3 against Juan Diego Catholic since January of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Taylorsville Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle at 7:00 p.m. Taylorsville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Juan Diego Catholic likes a good challenge.

Taylorsville took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against West Jordan by a score of 73-60. The Warriors' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Kobe Allen, who posted 38 points and six assists. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Johnson, who put up 16 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Juan Diego Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past Kearns with a 57-53 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Soaring Eagle who have now won five matches in a row.

Taylorsville better keep an eye on Luke Meyer. He was instrumental in Juan Diego Catholic's win, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Meyer a new career-high in assists (four). Jake Wyatt was another key player, going 7 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

Taylorsville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-11. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Juan Diego Catholic, their record now sits at 11-5.

Taylorsville suffered a grim 75-50 defeat to Juan Diego Catholic in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Taylorsville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
