Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Maritime Academy Charter

Maritime Academy Charter won the last time they faced KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, and Jadin Aviles did his part to make sure it happened again. The Maritime Academy Charter Seadogs breezed by KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy to the tune of 66-35 on Wednesday thanks in part to Aviles, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 22 points in addition to five boards and five steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jayriel Arroyo, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.

Several KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sybir Brown, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds. Joshua Patterson was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Maritime Academy Charter and bumps their season record up to 10-12. As for KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-5.

Maritime Academy Charter will be taking part in a tournament against TECH Freire Charter at 3:15 p.m. on February 12th. Maritime Academy Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
