Baseball Game Preview: Boylan Catholic Titans vs. Rockford East E-Rabs

Boylan Catholic is a perfect 10-0 against Rockford East since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Titans will host the E-Rabs at 4:30 p.m. Boylan Catholic will be strutting in after a victory while Rockford East will be coming in after a loss.

Boylan Catholic took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hononegah, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Indians 2-1.

Aidan Baluch tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Boylan Catholic is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-12-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Boylan Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Scalise, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Rockford East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Belvidere.

Boylan Catholic's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14-1. As for Rockford East, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Rockford East's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Boylan Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Rockford East, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Boylan Catholic keep running through batters, or will the E-Rabs buck the trend?
