Soccer Game Preview: Harding vs. Xavier

The Harding Presidents will head out to face off against the Xavier Falcons at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Harding will be strutting in after a win while Xavier will be coming in after a loss.

Harding took a four-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Bassick, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Presidents beat the Lions by a goal, winning 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Harding.

Xavier had taken Fairfield Prep down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Falcons fell just short of the Jesuits by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Xavier came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut soccer rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Fairfield Prep are ranked 31st).

Harding's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Xavier, their loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3-3.

Harding suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Xavier in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Presidents avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
