Softball Recap: Arcola Takes a Loss

Arcola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos. The Purple Riders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Tenley Thomas made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Pilkington, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Arcola's record now sits at 3-16. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Arcola will square off against rival Sullivan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Cerro Gordo/Bement is set to challenge their familiar foe Blue Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
