Basketball Game Preview: Lee Central Stallions vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans

The Lee Central Stallions will square off against the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lee Central will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Lee Central against Thornwell as the squad secured a 75-6 win. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 24 points or more this season.

Calhoun Falls Charter typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Ridge Spring-Monetta proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Blue Flashes by a score of 53-43. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but the Trojans were the better team in the second half.

Ridge Spring-Monetta's win came from a few key players Lee Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Taylah Leaphart, who went 10-for-24 on her way to 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ny'Asia Young, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards.

Ridge Spring-Monetta was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhoun Falls Charter only posted three assists.

Lee Central pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.4 points over those games. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.
