Baseball Game Preview: Bald Eagle Area Eagles vs. Central Dragons

The Bald Eagle Area Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Central Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Bald Eagle Area didn't have quite enough to beat Westmont Hilltop and fell 5-4. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wyatt Spackman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Luke Hosband was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Rangers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dragons have posted against the Rangers since May 15, 2017.

Coltin Harbaugh tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jay Hoenstine, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy McNichol, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bald Eagle Area's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Central, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Bald Eagle Area took their victory against Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
