Baseball Game Preview: Central Bears vs. Hernando Leopards

Central is 0-10 against Hernando since March of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. Central will look to defend their home field against Hernando at 7:00 p.m. Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Central will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating River Ridge, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Central came out on top in a nail-biter against River Ridge on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-2.

Talyn Poole made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Poole wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Korbin Baskind, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Central is undefeated when Baskind posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Hernando was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Tarpon Springs. That's two games in a row now that the Leopards have lost by just one run.

Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Hernando's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Central might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Hernando in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
