After a string of four wins, Powers's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against the Umpqua Valley Christian Monarchs, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cruisers of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Powers' defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Umpqua Valley Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Powers and Umpqua Valley Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings. The Cruisers will take on Days Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (47 vs. 198). Meanwhile, Umpqua Valley Christian (ranked 23rd) will meet Weston-McEwen (ranked 89th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
