Baseball Recap: Archbishop Mcnicholas Beats Carroll for Their Third Straight Victory

Archbishop McNicholas entered their tilt with Carroll on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Patriots 14-0. With that victory, the Rockets brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Nate Colyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

In other batting news, Connor Powderly was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

Archbishop McNicholas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Archbishop McNicholas' record now sits at 4-2. As for Carroll, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Archbishop McNicholas will head out on the road to challenge Dixie Heights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rockets are facing the Colonels at the right time seeing as the Colonels are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Carroll, they will welcome Triad at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Patriots will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Cardinals will have lost four straight heading into Saturday's game.
