Basketball Recap: R.W. Goines Stem Academy Gets Big Victory over Higher-Ranked Lehi

The third road contest was the charm for R.W. Goines Stem Academy, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top against the Lehi Pioneers by a score of 56-43 on Thursday. The win was all the more spectacular given R.W. Goines Stem Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 625th in Texas, while Lehi is ranked 26th in Utah).

When it comes to explaining why Lehi lost, don't look at Easton Hawkins. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. The match was Hawkins' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Shewell, who had 11 points.

R.W. Goines Stem Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Lehi, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

R.W. Goines Stem Academy and DeSoto will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on December 27th. As for Lehi, they will face off against Murray at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th.
