The Masconomet Regional Chieftains will face off against the Boston Latin Academy Dragons at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Masconomet Regional is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Masconomet Regional's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Salem as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Witches: they've now won five in a row.
Logan Schaap and Sabrina Caferelli did most of the damage at the plate: Schaap went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Caferelli went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Caferelli also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Charlotte Leiss was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Masconomet Regional hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Boston Latin Academy posted their closest victory since April 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Boston Latin. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.
The team relied heavily on Maddie Andrade, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruby Gold, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Masconomet Regional's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Boston Latin Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Masconomet Regional hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Boston Latin Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Masconomet Regional's way against Boston Latin Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Masconomet Regional made off with a 17-5 victory.
