Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Havana walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Liberty Eagles 7-5. Winning may never get old, but the Ducks sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Maddie Howerter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kaydi Miller was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Addie Atwater was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Havana's win bumped their record up to 23-3-1. As for Liberty, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 24-6 record.
As of now, neither Havana nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
