Flag Football Recap: Carmel Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Carmel had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 6-4 to make it four. They took a 31-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the King City Mustangs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Padres came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Mustangs are ranked 275th).

As for King City, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Katia Slama went supernova, throwing for 296 yards and four touchdowns while completing 82.9% of her passes, and also rushing for 40 yards and one TD. She didn't just play on offense: she also made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass. Dania Rodriguez was Slama's top target, picking up 64 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
