Softball Game Preview: Grace Christian Warriors vs. Quitman Wolverines

The Grace Christian Warriors will take on the Quitman Wolverines on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

11 must be Grace Christian's lucky number: they beat Hicks with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Warriors beat the Pirates by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-7. The win was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Rylee Guillot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Bella Acree and Chloe Courtright did most of the damage at the plate: Acree went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Courtright went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave Courtright a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Wynnlee Vincent, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Quitman walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Rockets on Saturday as they made off with a 17-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Grace Christian pushed their record up to 22-9 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Quitman, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season.

Grace Christian might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Quitman in their previous meeting back in March of 2015. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
