Softball Recap: Barrington Takes a Loss

Barrington extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-4. They lost 10-2 to the Tiverton Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since May 3, 2025.

Maya Etheridge was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Grace Fontaine was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Tiverton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Tiverton's side, Lia Doster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Doster has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sara Poland was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Morgan DiManno, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barrington will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Westerly at 5:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Tiverton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cranston East at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbolts have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
