Softball Game Preview: Stonington Bears vs. Waterford Lancers

Stonington hasn't had much luck against Waterford recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Bears will host the Lancers at 1:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Stonington's last matchup with Ledyard could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Bears lost 14-1 to the Colonels. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Waterford faced Masuk in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lancers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Lancers were not able to get on the board.

Waterford's loss dropped their record down to 17-3. As for Stonington, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Stonington couldn't quite get it done against Waterford in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
