Baseball Recap: Calhoun Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Calhoun posted their closest victory since May 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Columbia Prep Lions by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Lions on Monday, they had to take a 2-1 loss.

Brian Stone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Calhoun pushed their record up to 9-3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Columbia Prep, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Calhoun will square off against York Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Columbia Prep, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rye Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on May 2.
