Baseball Recap: Las Animas Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Las Animas waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Florence Huskies. Considering the Trojans have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Braydon Ortiz, who fired off three home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Duran, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Las Animas lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Las Animas' record is now 14-2. As for Florence, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Las Animas will venture away from home to take on Crowley County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. As for Florence, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elbert at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.5 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
