Basketball Recap: Newman Smith Gets the Win

While Newman Smith didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the West Mesquite Wranglers by a score of 54-42 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Newman Smith's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for West Mesquite, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Coming up, Newman Smith won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Conrad at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for West Mesquite, they will be playing at home against North Forney at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wranglers are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
