Basketball Recap: Chaparral Beats Fossil Ridge for Their Fourth Straight Win + How To Watch

Chaparral put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 79-62 victory over the Fossil Ridge SaberCats. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the SaberCats are ranked 59th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chaparral was led to victory by Luke Howery and Christian Williams. Howery went 10-for-16 on his way to 25 points along with eight assists and six rebounds, while Williams shot 67% from beyond the arc to rack up 28 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Howery a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Luke Williams, who went 5-for-7 en route to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Chaparral was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They racked up 12 more assists than Fossil Ridge's also-impressive total of ten.

Several SaberCats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drake Walker, who posted 21 points. The matchup was Walker's third in a row with at least 21 points. Malachi Egbuji was another key player, shooting 63% from the field to rack up 10 points.

Chaparral's record now sits at 4-0. As for Fossil Ridge, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.

Chaparral wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-50 win against Grandview on the 13th. As for Fossil Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-65 defeat against ThunderRidge on the 13th.
