With a playoff win on the line, Merritt Island rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They skirted past the Satellite Scorpions 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Shane Patrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Merritt Island saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Arnold, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Ty Brandes, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Merritt Island's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Satellite, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Looking ahead, Merritt Island will challenge Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Commodores have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Satellite does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
