Softball Recap: Lloyd Memorial Has No Trouble Against Dayton

Lloyd Memorial barely beat Dayton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Lloyd Memorial was the clear victor by a 16-4 margin over Dayton on Friday. With that win, the Juggernauts brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Layla Laudick made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Lloyd Memorial let Cici Kuhn-Stevenson and Mady Godsey run wild. Kuhn-Stevenson scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Godsey scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Kuhn-Stevenson also put up two hits, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Samantha Canter, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lloyd Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Lloyd Memorial moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Dayton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lloyd Memorial will take on Notre Dame Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Dayton, they will square off against Holy Cross at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
