Basketball Game Preview: Sunnybrook Christian Lions vs. Lifegate Christian Falcons

Having just played yesterday, the Sunnybrook Christian Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Lifegate Christian Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Sunnybrook Christian challenged San Marcos HomeSchool on Monday. Sunnybrook Christian lost 48-26 to San Marcos HomeSchool. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Lifegate Christian's game on Friday was all tied up 15-15 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Annapolis Christian Academy 31-28. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 692nd, while the Warriors are ranked 1511th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lifegate Christian's win came from a few key players Sunnybrook Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Anelyna Cavazos, who posted seven points in addition to 24 boards and four steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 19 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amariah Perez, who had eight points and seven steals.

Sunnybrook Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Lifegate Christian, their record now sits at 10-2.

Sunnybrook Christian was taken down by Lifegate Christian 54-18 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Sunnybrook Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
