Baseball Game Preview: Byron Bears vs. Northfield Raiders

The Byron Bears will face off against the Northfield Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Byron is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Byron's last matchup with Lourdes could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Bears came up short against the Eagles, falling 21-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bears have suffered against the Eagles since May 10, 2021.

Meanwhile, Northfield won against Owatonna on Tuesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Raiders blew past John Marshall 9-2. Considering the Raiders have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Northfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Byron, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Byron suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Northfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
