Recap: Williams Vikings vs. Ash Fork Spartans

The Williams Vikings entered their tilt with the Ash Fork Spartans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Williams walked away with a 49-40 victory over Ash Fork on Friday. The score was all tied up 18-18 at the break, but Williams was the better team in the second half.

Williams had a senior duo take command as Braydyn Larimore scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals and Kai Mortensen scored 15 points along with six steals and three blocks. Mortensen has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times she's played. Kenzie Orozco was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight steals.

Williams' win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Ash Fork, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Williams won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Fredonia at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Fredonia's defense has only allowed 26.4 points per game this season, so Williams' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Ash Fork, they will head out on the road to square off against Seligman at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 13 consecutive losses for Seligman and three for Ash Fork.
