Softball Game Preview: Buckley Bears vs. Onekama Portagers

The Buckley Bears will head out on the road to take on the Onekama Portagers at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Buckley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Buckley fell victim to Elk Rapids and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Elks. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Onekama was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Benzie Central. That's two games in a row now that the Portagers have lost by just one run.

Ava Mauntler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Karima Castillo also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Onekama's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Buckley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Buckley took their win against Onekama in their previous meeting last Tuesday by a conclusive 13-5 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Portagers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
