Basketball Recap: Marley Campbell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wiregrass Ranch over Mitchell

Wiregrass Ranch and Mitchell squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Wiregrass Ranch had to settle for second. They lost 59-34 to the Mitchell Mustangs. The Bulls haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Several Bulls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marley Campbell, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 13 points. Tennae Cabral was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Wiregrass Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Brianna Coure went supernova for Mitchell, going 7 for 14 to rack up 18 points and four steals. That's the most points Coure has posted since back in December of 2024. Raquel King also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Wiregrass Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Mitchell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Wiregrass Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mitchell, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-61 loss against Sunlake on the 8th.
