Football Recap: Weiser Wolverines vs. Lakeland Hawks
Weiser lost a close one when they played last Thursday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on Friday was a bit more commanding. They lost 41-20 to the Lakeland Hawks.
When it comes to explaining why Weiser lost, don't look at Kash Cobb. Despite the final result, he rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. The dominant performance gave Cobb a new career-high in rushing yards.
Kage (Lovie) Weil had a dynamite game for Lakeland, rushing for 184 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. (Lovie) Weil was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Taylor, who picked up 138 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Weiser's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lakeland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Weiser will be playing in front of their home fans against Melba at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakeland, they will welcome Frenchtown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
